Hello ,

Welcome to the July volunteer opportunity board! We are striving to match people who want to volunteer with environmental organizations that are seeking volunteers. The postings are from Ontario Nature and the 150 member groups that form our Nature Network.

You can see past posting lists on our volunteer webpage.

The volunteer newsletter has graduated from a one-year pilot, and we plan to keep it going! We welcome feedback. If you have any comments or suggestions, please email them to naturenetwork@ontarionature.org.

VOLUNTEER BOARD POSTINGS

Wildlife Crossing Advocate, Algonquin to Adirondacks Collaborative

  • Location: Mallorytown, Brockville, Gananoque and surrounding areas
  • Start: July 1 or later
  • Duration: Ongoing
  • Time Commitment: Variable
  • Contact: Aleisha Pannozzo, communications@a2acollaborative.org

The Ontario government is moving forward with plans to expand Highway 401 to eight lanes through the ecologically sensitive Frontenac Arch Region. These expansions threaten to fragment wildlife habitat, increase road mortality and undermine decades of conservation work.

Right now, planning studies are underway to evaluate the highway’s future footprint between Gananoque and Brockville. This is a pivotal moment and we need your help to make sure wildlife and connectivity are considered.

Join us as a volunteer to help build public and provincial support for wildlife crossings along Highway 401 in the A2A region. You can help by:

  • Tabling for A2A at local events
  • Hosting an event with your community about the need for wildlife crossings in the area
  • Contacting your MPP and MP
  • Submitting a comment to the planning study
  • Sharing our resources with your network so we can amplify our reach

Please email us at communications@a2acollaborative.org to express your interest and visit a2acollaborative.org/right-to-roam for more information.
