Welcome to the August volunteer opportunity board! We are striving to match people who want to volunteer with environmental organizations that are seeking volunteers. The postings are from Ontario Nature and the 150 member groups that form our Nature Network.

The volunteer newsletter has graduated from a one-year pilot, and we plan to keep it going! We welcome feedback. If you have any comments or suggestions, please email them to naturenetwork@ontarionature.org.
VOLUNTEER BOARD POSTINGS
Tree Planters, Friends of Wye Marsh
- Location: Midland
- Start: August 23 and 24
- Duration: 2 days
- Time Commitment: 6 hours/ day

Calling all volunteer conservationists to the Wye Marsh Community Planting Party! Join us on August 23rd and 24th to plant more than 500 saplings. The goal of this restoration project is to return our ecosystem to a healthy, functional state where native species thrive and natural processes are self-sustaining. Free lunch is included, and rain dates are August 30th and 31st.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
John Gunn is a long-time member and supporter of Ontario Nature. He was Ontario Nature’s Director of Finance for six years. Since retiring about 10 years ago, he has been a dedicated volunteer.
An avid naturalist, John enjoys hiking, birding and participating in Ontario Nature events. He brings an abundance of skills and great enthusiasm to Ontario Nature’s Development team as he helps to maintain the member database by updating records on a weekly basis.
We are grateful for the countless hours John has invested into Ontario Nature.

If you are a member group and have an opportunity, please fill out this form to have it included in the next newsletter. Postings must be submitted by the 25th of the month for inclusion in the subsequent month’s newsletter (e.g., Postings in by August 25 for early September distribution). Groups are responsible for vetting, training and the safety of volunteers.
